How did you first get into music production, and who is your biggest inspiration?
Well I got into music production in 1992 just being around some friends who happen to have studios and gear. I didn’t create my 1st official track until 1994 because it took some time for me to feel confident about myself to do so. My biggest inspiration in getting into producing music was definitely Todd Terry he’s forever my idol and a great guy.
What is your story behind your latest release/mashup?
I have a release currently on Groovy Riddim Records (owned by Bonetti) called “Under Your Spell” and is doing quite well. I was fooling around with some acapellas and found a sweet female vocal as she mentions the word “hypnotize”. So I figured take some parts of the vocal, give it an old school House vibe to it and the track was born.
What is the most memorable moment from your recent live sets?
What is your most memorable moment from your recent live sets? So 3 times a year or so I play at an afterhours in Brooklyn called “Hohm”. I look so forward to playing because I play extended sets there since I’m the sole DJ playing when booked. So I play anywhere between a 6 to 8 hour set and it so worth doing it’s my favorite venue to play even better than playing a regular club hours set. I just played there and I really take the crowd to a musical journey plus set the tone of the night the way I envision it being.
What are your main goals for your music career this year?
What are your main goals for your music career this year? Keep building both the DJ Dove and Grind City (my imprint) brands to better establish myself in this industry. It gets harder as everything keeps changing and when that happens it’s more competitive thus making it difficult finding where I belong.
What can your fans expect from you next?
What can your fans expect from you next? More productions including some really cool collaborations in 2027. Hopefully more DJ sets around the globe plus my brand new radio weekly podcast “The Grind City Affairs” on Data Transmission Radio. I set the bar high and I work really hard to meet expectations I feel are necessary.
