HOUSE MUSIC 2026
How did you first get into music production, and who is your biggest inspiration?
It all started completely by accident around 2012–2013 when I first heard Martin Garrix’s track “Animals.” I still remember the feeling. Before that moment, electronic music was just music to me, but after hearing that track, I became curious about everything behind it.
At first, I wanted to become a music producer. I spent time trying to learn how to create my own tracks, but I quickly realized it was much harder than I expected. Eventually, I discovered that DJing felt more natural to me, and that’s where my real journey began.
Around the same time, I discovered Tomorrowland. I remember watching videos from the festival and thinking, “One day I want to be there. I want to play on that stage.” More than ten years later, that dream is still alive. If anything, it has become even stronger.
Life wasn’t always easy during those years. I’ve gone through financial struggles, periods where I felt completely lost, and personal battles with alcohol that I am still working to overcome. There were moments when it felt like everything was moving in the wrong direction. But music was always there.
No matter what was happening in my life, music gave me something to focus on, something to believe in, and a reason to keep moving forward. In many ways, DJing became more than a hobby or a dream. It became part of my survival.
Martin Garrix remains my biggest inspiration because one song changed the direction of my life.
What is the story behind your latest release/mashup?
My latest mashup came from a very unexpected opportunity.
I normally play House, Tech House, and Afro House, but recently I had the chance to perform a warm-up set for one of my favorite Russian rap artists, Gio Pika, during his show in Lisbon.
The audience was completely different from what I’m used to. Instead of a typical house crowd, I was playing for people who came for hip-hop and rap. I knew I needed to adapt and create something that could connect both worlds.
That challenge pushed me outside my comfort zone. I started experimenting with different ideas and mashups to make the transition feel natural and exciting.
What surprised me most was how much I enjoyed it. It was my first real experience playing for a hip-hop-oriented audience, and it opened my mind to new possibilities. Sometimes the opportunities you don’t expect end up teaching you the most.
What are your main goals for your music career this year?
My biggest goal this year is not only to grow as a DJ but also to become more visible as a person.
If someone visits my Instagram today, they mostly see videos and photos of me performing. They see the DJ, but they don’t really know who I am behind the decks.
I want to change that.
For years, I’ve been focused almost entirely on the music. But behind the music, there is a real person with dreams, failures, struggles, victories, and lessons learned the hard way.
I’ve spent years trying to overcome difficult situations in my life. Financial problems, self-doubt, unhealthy habits, and periods where I felt stuck. Some battles were visible, others were completely invisible to everyone around me.
One of the biggest challenges has been my relationship with alcohol. It is something I have been working hard to overcome, and it is still part of my journey today.
Through all of that, music remained one of the few things that never left me.
This year I want to start sharing more of that journey. Not because I want sympathy, but because I want people to see the real Vasco. If someone sees my story and finds motivation to keep fighting for their own goals, then sharing it is worth it.
Of course, I also want to continue growing professionally, play bigger events, reach new audiences, and keep improving as an artist.
What is the most memorable moment from your recent live sets?
One of my most memorable recent sets happened almost by accident.
I was playing at an event where DJs had been performing Hard Techno all night long until around seven in the morning. By that point, people had been listening to intense music for hours and everyone looked exhausted.
When my turn came, I decided to trust my instincts. Instead of continuing with Hard Techno, I switched the atmosphere and started playing House mixed with Tech House.
The reaction was incredible.
People suddenly started moving again. The energy changed. The dancefloor came back to life.
That moment reminded me that DJing is not only about playing tracks. It’s about understanding people, reading the room, and giving the crowd what they need at that particular moment.
Those are the moments that make me fall in love with DJing again and again.
What can your fans expect from you next?
People can expect a new chapter.
Musically, I will continue exploring different sounds. House, Tech House, and Afro House will always be a big part of my identity, but recently I’ve also started experimenting with Hard Techno and other styles that challenge me creatively.
Beyond the music, people will start seeing much more of who I really am.
I want to create content that goes beyond DJ sets and nightlife. I want to share the reality behind the journey—the good days, the difficult days, the wins, the setbacks, and everything in between.
For a long time, people only saw me when I was standing behind the decks. What they didn’t see were the years of trying to rebuild myself, the mistakes, the financial pressure, the personal struggles, and the constant effort to become a better version of myself.
That journey is still happening.
I’m still learning. I’m still growing. I’m still fighting for the life I want to build.
And if there’s one thing I hope people take away from my story, it’s this: no matter how many times life knocks you down, you can always keep moving forward.
Music helped me do that, and I hope my story can inspire others to do the same.
This is only the beginning.
